Some movies.. *wINk wINk...**

The Red Eye

Before going back to school this sem, my posse and I watched the Red Eye at Miok's house.

I simply loved the movie since I also like the lead, Rachel McAdams from the movie The Notebook. I loved the suspense of the film and it's more interesting than the Scream series (Wes Craven is the director of the Scream movies and Red Eye).
My friends and I were wondering what the titlemeans so I decided to check the meaning out...

Red-eye flight is a flight operated byan airline roughly during the period from 01:00 to 04:00 atnight.Theterm "red-eye" derives from the sleepiness symptom of having redeyes.Depending on the origin and destination of the flight, a red-eyeflightmayrun at different times. For example, a flight from the West Coastofthe UnitedStates to the East Coast of the United States might takeapproximately fivehours. If the flight leaves at 22:00 Pacific Standard Time, it will arrive atits destination at 06:00 Eastern Standard Timethenext day, thereby taking thepassengers' entire night, withouttaking off orlanding in the middle of the night.

Red-eye flights generally operate for several reasons:
  • Red-eye flights are used torepositionaircraft for the following day's schedule.
  • Red-eye flights are used toincrease theutilization of aircraft in a companies fleet.
  • Red-eye flights are used toprovide additional service to traditionally lower cost markets.
  • Red-eye flights allow theairline toadvertise lower fares to some destinations.
In the 1930s and 1940s,red-eye flights were unthinkable, as most airports did not have the equipment necessary to work at night. But with the advent of the jet age and improvement of several airports around the world, night flights andred-eyeflights surged. On the other hand, there are still many airportsthat do notfunction aftercertain hours, so red-eye flights can takeoff only fromthose airports that areoperational after midnight. The title of the 2005 film Red Eye comes from this term.

Love Actually...Is All Around

NY Times film critic A.O. Scott reportedly had a poor review of the movie. Defending the film at the premiere, director Richard Curtis said "I'd rather make a film that most of the audience liked and some critics didn't rather than a film that critics loved and nobody wanted to watch." Very well said, coz I'm one of the many people who loved it! ^_^ And I'm pretty sure he just said that because the US president was embarrassed in this movie! Hahaha! He deserves it, anyway! LOL!
It's about the love stories/problems of different (British) people. You'll first think that they are not related to each other but at the end of the movie you will find out that these characters are interrelated to one another! It's sooo cute!
And I liked it even more because I watched it in the same season of its setting -- Christmas! Love during Christmas? So sweet! :)
