Truly Asia at Malaysia!

Day 1
19 September
MONDAY

We arrive in Malaysia
Our flight was delayed! When we stepped foot in KL’s airport, the tour guide – Shirley was there to welcome us. Shirley was so amazed when she saw my small black traveling bag, she was like “very smart, you’re a light traveler”. From the airport itself, you can already tell that Malaysia is a beautiful country. From the moment I stepped foot on their airport, I already fell in love with the place.

We took a break at the Petronas gasoline station. I wasn’t planning to go down but when everyone went inside the convenient store, I decided to go with the flow. But I wasn’t planning to buy anything I just wanted to check out their products.

It was quite a long drive to the hotel. We all dropped our jaws when we saw the area of Bintang Warisan! It was so beautiful – with the lights and everything! And we were glad because it was near the malls, convenient stores, boutiques and other stores! What a convenience!

Of course it was picture taking time at Bintang Warisan. I was amazed again because our hotel was lovely! It looks good for a two-star hotel!

My roommates and I went straight to our room to take a rest and have a little chat until our heads hurt because of lack of sleep.

On this day I also realized that Air Asia is not that bad as well.

Day 2
20 September
Tuesday

Discovering What’s Truly Asia
I love this place. I love countries where you can feel that there’s culture. Every infrastructure represents Malaysian culture. The city was a sight to behold. It was really clean unlike in Manila. It has the same weather like in the Philippines but there’s no pollution in every place we visited.

Our first stop was the King’s palace. Seeing the place made me remember how I badly want to become of royal blood. Hahahaha! The palace also reminded me of England. It was also nice because I got to learn something new about the monarchial system of Malaysia.

The National Monument is a paradise! It’s very clean and beautiful! Petronas was also wonderful! We went to the mall at the ground floor and the mall is really high class! Everything in there looks expensive and I also got to take a peep at Charriol. There’s also Hermes and Givenchy – good brands that I CRAVE for. It’s really cool!

Since everything is expensive the only thing I bought was a lipstick which is around Php 200! It’s already a good find for me!

Cocoa boutique was the last stop for the day. I wanted to buy everything but sadly, I don’t have the money to do so! Hahahaha! I bought chocolates for my family. This is really record breaking – it’s my first time to buy pasalubong in my whole life!

Day 3
21 September
Wednesday

We enter inviolable land

After having a hearty breakfast, we headed to the Philippine embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Of course, we got there late because some are just pasaway. While we are at the bus, I can’t help but think what JP’s dad looks like. That’s why it’s really funny because JP and His father are look alikes. Hahahaha! The only difference is that JP is thinner and younger! Hahahahaha!

Everyone in the embassy was kind and accommodating. They seem so happy and eager to lecture us. That Eagerness was very obvious in their faces. And I think they really like to share their knowledge to the youth, especially to those who fully understand the field of their work. There was one laughtrip thing that happened during our lecture, Shirley’s weird nephew, son or whatever, asked what the difference of bilateral relations to foreign policy is. And everyone was like….Huh?????! It was really funny when Ms. Aquino immediately said that he does not belong to our group. Hahahahaha! :D

I learned important things in the discussion. It’s really amazing because all of them are not even graduates of international studies. But look at them now! The fact that these people were not IS students in their younger days, made me feel good and gave me hope that there is chance for someone like me to enter the diplomatic world. Hehe. ;p

And it was also weird because everyone was teasing me to the labor attaché’s son, JP. ;p

The embassy itself is not so bad. JP told me that it looks like trash, but it looks OK - Although there’s always room for some improvements. I’m really glad that I we were able to visit the embassy.

We create linkages
For this part, I don’t know if we actually feel that we established a linkage with taylor college at Petaling-jaya or we just made a catch out of their students.

Taylor College not only has a high class tourism and hospitality management course, it also has great food and good-looking students! Hahahaha! The campus was really magnificent! And Taylor College is beyond A level!

I liked their food, although for me the visit to the embassy was more interesting. Tourism and hospitality management are not in the list of my interests.

Lam, our Malaysian boyfriend. LOL!

I think Lam is really cute. But I also think that he’s the weird type. Hahaha!

Everyone in Taylor College was friendly. I think I’m beginning to like Malaysians because they all think that Filipinas are beautiful. ;)

We went next to the KL tower. I loved it there! The tower is amazing and I learned a lot from that little box where you listen to a voice that tells you all about Malaysia and the tower. I love the scenery – it’s like the tower in Seattle. ;)

How I wish the Philippines will also have our own tower. How about Manila Tower or Pinoy Tower? Hmmmmm…..

Day 4
22 September
Thursday

We head for Malacca
Today we went to visit Malacca. Along the Loooong way, we saw Bukit China. Shirley told us some tales about it. I can’t remember everything she said tough.

There’s nothing special about Malacca. I guess my expectations are just not met because I thought that it was something extra-ordinary because I knew that it was very historic and important to south East Asian history.

The Buddhist temples are just like the ones in Chinatown in Manila. Although the place, also reminded me of Hong kong. I liked the Mosques. In this whole trip I’ve appreciated all Muslim stuff best. I guess that’s because I don’t see that everyday in the Philippines. I think I’m also learning to appreciate the religion. ;)

I realized that we need to build unique places so tourists all over the world will appreciate our country more. I did not appreciate Malacca that much and the weather was very hot. I also did not shop in Malacca because I found it expensive.

I also tried their version of Halo halo. It tastes good, but nothing beats the Pinoy Version. ;)

Malaysian's version of Halo Halo costs 3 Ringgit!

Day 5
23 September
Friday

Farewell, Malaysia!

Today disaster has struck us! Someone “Lost” her hand bag at the hotel lobby.

It really made our moods bad. We are all accountable to each other in this trip that’s why we are all concerned for her. And the bad thing is they are suspecting that Shirley is the culprit. Poor Shirley! =(

Anyways, we head for Putrajaya even without Ms. Aquino. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Putrajaya! I love it 100x!!!!!!!! There are More beautiful mosques and I love the way that it is a man made city. It’s a great idea to have a federal capital. ;)

After a few picture taking, we set off to the airport. It’s time to leave already and we left without our classmate and miss aquino! ;( We were all worried for them. It’s funny because during the earlier days of the trip we were joking around and asking if we could extend our stay. And it became true because two people from our group were forced to stay in Malaysia!

I love Malaysia - Its culture its discipline and its good looking Muslim men. ;p

I will never forget this trip because it has showed me the value of discipline, responsibility, accountability and most important of all – the importance of an effective government. I look up to Malaysia because they made it. I’m sadly hoping that we will make it too.

It’s farewell for now, Malaysia, but definitely I’m coming back to visit you again!
