Finding my TRUE gems

It's very rare that you find true friends nowadays. In fact, in my last two decades, I've realized that I may have known and got close with a number of people in college but I cannot really say that I can call them as my friends.

Having them on my friendster does not automatically mean that we are friends. I really wanted to delete that account, but for the heck of it maybe I'll just keep it. Anyway, back to my point... Now that I'm graduating I've learned (and deep inside I've always known) that you won't make any real friends in college. Sure they can be your gimmick buddies, but it's still not the same with your highschool buddies! In my case, they are definitely for keeps!

How we met
It all started in a small and not-so-known school called Bloomfield Academy. I didn't know anyone when I first stepped foot on it as a student and not as a taekwondo player. I remember meeting Mars first and we got along pretty well since both of us are newcomers. Serenity was our section. I could say that it was a loser section compared to Continence but it is where our bonding has started. At first there was: ME, Mars (Marianne at that time), Emiko, Michael, Richard, Charissa, Jessebel, Elarmie, Badong, etc etc... (If there are other people I forgot to include, I'm sorry all I remember is that we were totally a big barkada.)

During our second year we somehow drifted apart. :( But it was not so bad. I remember that this was the time that the big barkada of Serenity was not so big anymore. Although Mars, Em and I were still hanging out. This is our "Charmed Era". We liked that TV program so much that we even tried imitating them! Har Har! :)

In our third year, additional people came like Joey and Ivan. They and the girls were all under the same section except for me. I felt really horrible that time. Nevertheless, I still managed to continue a bond with them. This is where we (or they) met Iris and Donna and that girl whose name I forgot. For some reasons, these girls suddenly got lost track of our social circle - it would have been fun if there are a lot of girls in our posse.

Our final highschool year was a boom for me. This is where somehow the posse was established. I became close with Yani. Badong, Lucky and Ivan were my classmates. I dunno, but I can say that I was the one who managed to keep the barkada together. I really wanted to maintain the friendship that was started long ago and I also managed to add some people into it.

The Present
Joey left for the States before our fourth year. Mars, Miok (formerly Michael / Big Show), Badz, Ivan (?) and I are graduating. Yani, Em, Lucky, Ralph and Johnnie (?) still have a few years to go before they could march. Lucky is now dating Joiz, a girl whom I introduced to him last year. Ralph is still going strong with Elarmie. Mars is now happy with Harry. And we hang out as if there's no tomorrow! It's so much fun! I love them like my own brothers and sisters already! :)

Blue Moon
Last Jan 4, my girls and I watched Blue Moon. We all agreed it was a good movie. Mars is the only one who was observant enough to notice all of the movie's mistakes - even the smallest details! Whew!

Blue Moon's theme became the song of the week after that! Hahahahaha!

Orange and Lemons @ Bloomfield (Jan 14)

I promised Philip at Lucky's birthday party that I would come to the concert and support it. Ok, this may sound as if I don't have a choice but yeah -- I really wanted to make a presence. Overall, the concert was OK. It was cool, but it was over crowded by the younger people as expected. It would have been better if the alumni supported it. I really wanted to see the people who graduated from the same school. Going back to BA brought back memories. :)

So, how about you? Do you have those precious gems in your life? I have so many of them. There's Paul, Simon, and a whole lot more! :) But these people are like my diamonds - they have been in my life for so long and they just keep on shining brightly.

Dave: Me, friendly? Hehehehe! Well, I guess I'm. ^_^ Although now that I'm becoming older I have decided to choose my real friends wisely. I'll leave college soon and I know that I will seldom (or probably NEVER) see my college buddies after I graduate. But these diamonds of mine... we went to different colleges but we still remained close after almost 5 years! Whew! I guess, GOD has blessed me with true friends.

Hello blackbelt! What?! You are leaving college. My, my... that's where real life begins. You better figure out what to do with your life after campus or else it could be a trying period of your life. Im speaking from experience.
